Introduction To Interdiction And Vehicle Concealment

This one-day course has been designed as an introduction into the methodology and common types of concealment used throughout the world to transport and secure bulk currency, narcotics and firearms from detection. The course gives an insight into the transporter’s mindset emphasizing the physical indicators, verbal and nonverbal clues exhibited by these individuals.
This adult based learning is presented with the use of lecture, video presentation and hands on inspection of actual concealed compartments. These compartments are demonstrated to reveal their mechanisms, function and construction. The course also is designed as a familiarization with commercially available items as well as custom manufactured compartments used by Drug Trafficking/Money Laundering Organization, Organized Street Gangs and Home Invasion Groups.

PGI Subject Matter Experts use a step-by-step approach to interdiction by taking the officer from monitoring traffic, to the visual pat down, through the roadside interview and onto concealed compartment indicators. The “visual pat down” allows the officer to narrow their focus and scope while monitoring traffic.
We then detail the “science” and effectiveness of the “Roadside Interview” and the visual indicators. Through the narration of actual dash cam video of interdiction stops, as well as “wall off” and “whisper stops”, the student will be taken through the steps of securing substantiated probable cause. These techniques are proven and withstand the legal challenge.

The concealed compartment indicators portion highlights the telltale signs of an aftermarket manufactured compartment and the items used to conceal its existence. This portion details the use of electronically controlled and manually operated concealed compartments. The students will also be afforded the opportunity examine, handle and manipulate dozens of concealment items.
